National Conference For 2007 Women Parliamentary Aspirants Held On 5th May 2007 At Kicc

Samuel Kivuitu-ECK Chairman
Samuel Kivuitu ECK Chairman speaking on The Electoral Process in Kenya

The chairman of ECK was present at the meeting and addressed the aspirants on the Electoral process in Kenya. On this he spoke on the laws that govern the electoral process in Kenya and gave a step by step detail of the processes involved from the election regulations to tallying of results after the voting process.

Encouraging the aspirants, Kivuitu said

“We in the ECK are delighted to witness so many of our women aspiring to become parliamentarians. We shall be available at times to offer legitimate assistance to them. We have plenty of literature, which they may read and be more enlightened on election matters. We urge them to prepare well. Their presence should by now have been felt. Preparation for election start very early for where that is done a candidate will experience soft landing on the parliamentary seat on the election day. There is very little time left before the elections are held.

Mobility is equally crucial. You and your campaigners must be able to travel throughout the constituency at all times by election date. Even before then you must pay special attention to this matter.

Personal courage and personal determination will be in high demand. If you suffer from a deficit of these you will have serious drawback. Nerve will make you withstand the harsh obstacles you will certainly meet and enable you to go to places”
